This pregnancy has been a little harder than my first. Keeping up with Elliot has made me more tired, and sleeping seemed so much easier the first time. I don't feel like I've gained as much as I had with Elliot at this point but the doctor has said I am measuring big. I have another appointment tomorrow which will help determine if that's still the case, I suppose. My iron is low, so I do have to take a supplement. I am going to have to get a pill box (Leslie, thanks for the idea :)) because I can never remember if I take it, even if I might have taken it in the last 5 minutes... my memory has never been that great but it's been terrible lately.
I haven't been taking belly photos :( and I really haven't had many cravings, probably just lest cravings for anything than ever.
I am excited that we have the boys room set up, even though we plan to have the baby in our room for the first few months it's nice to feel prepared and it's fun for Elliot to be a big boy in his big boy bed. We just need to wash clothes and we will be as ready as we ever will be.

Elli-bot
Elliot has been loving robots, spiderman, any super hero really. He has a shirt with spiderman, the hulk and wolverine and according to him Mommy is wolverine, Daddy is the hulk and Elliot is Spiderman. It's very cute to hear him sing the spiderman song, pretend to shoot his web and fight bad guys.
We tried swim lessons which didn't last long, he seemed to love it at first but after a few weeks of having to skip lessons when we went back he cried then kept saying he didn't want to go. He did ok after that but still would say "No swim, Mommy." when I would ask him about it so we decided to give it more time before we have him go. But he has loved bird school. It's a pre-school at the aviary every other Saturday or so and we get to go with him. He gets to meet a bird at each class, hear a story and do a craft. He likes to do the crafts the most, especially when it involves paint.

It's a boy
This little guy will be Elliot's little brother! I'm 22 weeks, today... wow, this is going by quickly. Pregnancy is good to me, I can't say that I have any good complaints. Early on there was some nausea, but nothing too bad. I still get a little car sit, and I did feel more exhausted with this first trimester. Sleeping has been less comfortable this time around but I still have been managing to get a decent amount of it. I had a belly book with Elliot, but didn't even fill that out completely so to share a little bit of the same things for this little guy here are a few things that have been going on:
Found out at 5 weeks.
Started spreading the word with everyone at about 12 weeks.
Biggest cravings have been watermelon, pickles and salt and vinegar chips.
Been listening to The Head and the Heart.
Elliot and I have been singing lots of songs to you, and he loves to give you kisses and tell you good morning.

the sweetest
It's been a little while since I've mentioned what cute things Elliot's been doing. Lately, he has been quite a kisser. He loves to stand behind me when I'm sitting and put his arms around me and kiss my arms or shoulders, top of my head, cheek and forehead. It's the cutest thing, he's started to say I love you, too. He is very, very loving.
Right now he loves, a lot of the same things but a few new things:
Angry Birds
Blast Monkey
Jumping off of things
Pretending he is a bird
Monsters, he likes to hide from them under blankets. He's very dramatic when they're coming and he tells us to hide.
Our growing baby, he loves to kiss my belly and reach down my shirt to say hi to the baby.
Gummies, which are actually his vitamins :)
Bubbles, all bubbles which includes his spit but we are trying to keep him from doing that.
To wiggle his toes and call them snakes.
Sing, "So yummy, so yummy." When he is eating yummy food and we remind him some food on his plate would like to go to the party in his tummy. (thanks to Yo Gabba, Gabba) He also says, "mmm" while he is eating the yummy food.

progress
We had the muffin challenge this week and it went pretty well. No serious reaction, he after eating almost all of a mini muffin he started to get stuffy but it was hard to know if it was the milk that did it. The next day we forgot to leave Grandma a note and she didn't get my text till after breakfast explaining which muffins were dairy and which were soy. So he probably ate just over 2 mini muffins pretty quickly and didn't have a reaction. Later that night it seemed like he possibly bothering him with several diaper changes and since then we have slacked on giving him milk muffins. So, we will be picking that up tomorrow and trying to give him a little bit each day (ideally) but at least 3 - 4 times a week. Then we will check back in with the doctor in May and possibly try cooked cheese. Exiting but we're still a little nervous about it.

nutty
Yesterday we had the peanut & tree nut challenge at the dr's office. We did the skin test first with peanut butter on his skin and he was fine so we were able to smear some on a cracker for him to try. He really liked it! He was not a fan of the almonds or cashews plain but once we smashed them and put them on little peanut butter cracker sandwiches he was totally fine with it. We started with just a little bit and waited about 10 minutes or so and gave him more and more each time... and there were no reactions! He is safe to eat peanuts and tree nuts based on past skin testing and blood work. Still a little frightening to imagine him eating any nut so we plan to watch him closely. It feels like a nice start, though. We will go back in a few weeks to try the muffin challenge with milk. A recent study found that three-fourths of children with milk allergy can tolerate baked milk products. Hoping Elliot will fall under that group of kids. :)

colds = no fun
Elliot caught a cold earlier this week and by Friday started to wheeze. He was still active with his cousins so it was hard to know what to do. After talking to the nurse at the doctor's office they had us come in just to be sure everything was OK. I actually packed a bag for the hospital thinking it was more likely we would end up there for the night vs. going home.
At the visit they checked his oxygen levels which were still good, thank goodness! We had started giving him albuterol that morning but they gave him a dose in the office through the nebulizer. They also perscribed a steroid to start. It was a good visit - it wasn't Elliot's regular doctor but one we have seen often and had admitted us the 1st time to the hospital. We talked more about us knowing his asthma and being able to manage it. Which is something that came up before but it was nice to talk about because originally I felt like if this happened we would be at the hospital. This time we caught things before they got worse and hopefully his flovent helped. (which he is now just taking at first signs of a cold and a couple weeks following).

He was spitting out his medicine the last time but has been pretty good about taking the inhaler. He is doing much better and just being crazy and wild as ever, keeping us busy.
