Dear Elliot,
I like to keep our blog that is really your blog updated for you but have failed terribly. So much has happened in the last 2 months that I wanted you to know about. I hope I do not leave out too many details. Here are some of the things you've learned, like, continue to like and do or that have just happened.
At around 15 months you started feeding yourself with a spoon & fork. You've wanted to do it all on your own a big change from you not touching solids! Here is a list of things you like to eat: rice cheese slices, water crackers, enjoy life cookies, tortillas, beef stew, spaghetti and blueberry pancakes. For the past 2 days all you have wanted are blueberry pancakes. Thank goodness for Whole Foods and some of their good manufacturing practices for the crackers, cookies and tortillas.
You still really like to dance. The other night as we were putting you to bed you danced - it was hard to tell you to come back to your room for bed as you were so cute just dancing and continuing to dance after Daddy put the laptop away. Which reminds me... you love electronics. Computers, cell phones, cameras, printers, i-pod. You love to look at pictures of yourself and videos on the camera and we have to pull you away and it makes you very unhappy.
The videos we've been watching are of you drumming. We finally re-carpeted the basement and set up the drums and you love to spend time down there. I can't figure out how you can hit the drums so hard and also nod your head and yell so well. You are some sort of drumming natural, it's so fun to watch.
The other day we had a big snow storm and we were able to play out in the snow. You were so cute in your snowsuit. I'm really glad I didn't wait to buy it for you. I have a feeling we will have a lot more days like this. Thanks to Daddy for getting your boots the other day and getting you a sled that we were able to pull you in. You had so much fun, especially when Daddy went really fast. Hopefully we can make a snowman next time.
You recently found out where your nose is and can point to it when we ask you where it is. I think you are saying nose in your own way too. Hopefully more words will come a little easier for you soon because I can tell how frustrating it is for you.
Viruses seem to like you a lot - you recently had pink eye, an ear infection and a week later another bad cold. Hopefully we can all stay healthy for awhile. Although your pediatrician loves to see you we would like to keep it to the wellness checkups as much as possible. You were back on the weight chart before you got sick so hopefully you will stay on it and we won't have to worry about weight checkups. I think we should be okay with how much you have been eating lately.
Today was the first time we completely order you a meal at a restaurant. We went to Chick-fil-A, I was hoping that you could eat there nuggets but you can't. They did make you a grilled chicken strip and even had the cook change their gloves to keep from any contamination from dairy. I was very happy that the shift leader working was very nice about it and helped us feel better about what you would be eating. After all that you didn't touch your chicken but at least the fries and some fruit. You absolutely loved the juice box. Luckily it worked out because we were out and about later than we had planned and we all survived dinner and your meal was free.
You make me smile everyday!
I hope to do a better job at this blog for you.
Love you lots,
Mommy

my precious elliot,
some things i love about you...
...your smile, that you want to share with everyone
...your hugs, sometimes even at 2 am they are nice to have
...how loving you are, you always want everyone around to feel your love, hugs back and forth, you don't want any of us to feel bad if you want the other person
...your laugh, especially when you laugh along to whatever we are laughing at
...the way you dance, a slow bend in your knees
...your wave, a little pagent like but I love it! you also include this in your dance moves sometimes
...how you make mommy & daddy kiss, over & over by pushing our faces towards eachother and how you smile every time we do
...how much you love your grandparents
...watching you brush your hair
...how you share your food by feeding it to us when you're not hungry anymore
...your rythm, you amaze me playing the drums, clapping and hitting the table or anything else you can hit together to make noise
...how you love music
...that you dance it your car seat, and get excited when you hear a song you like
...that you are eating solids
...how you want to do everything daddy does
and so many other things...
